I didn't want to just post this idea on the DDT, because I think it can assist a bunch the newcomers.

You are watching: How to remember x and y axis

Everyone to know what D, F, U, R, L, and also B, once it pertains to learn algorythmes. But how does civilization know about X, Y, and Z? therefore I started to think to uncover a quick method to improve the memorisation of this move notation, and I actually found something :

The fuck, why you X-ray ?

It doesn't mean that much as an English sentence, but can be easily remembered as:

Ze posesthe (Z = front turn)

Y U (Y = increase turn)

X beam (X = right turn)

Every component turn in the very same cloakwise direction as their rotate equivalent.

Hope it can assist some people, now I'm walking to found to do M, E, and S quickly remembered. :)

PS : Sorry for my bad english, not a native speaker.

Yeah same. I always had a RUF time trying to find out my x, y, z notation. However once I applied RUF to my day-to-day living, I got my life back on track. Thanks RUF. //finger firearms at camera and winks//

Or it's math. X=x axis on a graph, y=y axis ~ above a graph, and also z=z axis on a graph.

Edit: Then host the axis and then follow R U or F for the direction

blind fixing is whereby the funny begins

I psychic it prefer that, yet isn't that sort of wrong? when I review this subject here, i remembered the something was odd through the 3D coordinate system. Generally x goes to the right and y to the top. Yet in 3D isn't x going to the front, y to the right and also z to the top?But whatever, that's more than likely the easiest method to remember the :)

The one I require a mnemonic for is slice notation. No the axis (E is equator, M is meridean, S is the other one, easy to remember) but the direction that the turn.

M goes clockwise indigenous the l face, E goes from clockwise once viewed indigenous U, and I can't psychic if S is clockwise perceived from F or B. Why not have actually them correspond to RUF and xyz for transforming direction? since that would certainly be too easy, ns guess.

S is "standing" i think, turns with F. Likewise I think E turns v D?

Lucas Etter uploaded a an excellent video freshly explaining the xyz notation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5cpiLNWhIk

He defines it by thinking around axes mentioning of the cube, a similar technique to what the CubingVainGlory dude claimed above.
